Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene – ABS
ABS is widely used for all types of forming applications including Injection Moulding.
The material is rigid, opaque, glossy, tough, and has good low temperature properties. It has good dimensional stability and can be both electroplated and have electromagnetic screening applied. It is widely used for aesthetic applications due to its ability to repeat high definition tooling features. The material has low creep and has good strength and modulus figures at a broad range of temperatures. It has a good chemical resistance to a broad range of chemicals.
Being a copolymer plastic, a wide range of grades are available. These are dependant on the ratio of constituent parts. The differing grades offer specification solutions to a varied range of applications.
Specialist grades compliant with all the major world Food & Drug authorities are available for food and medical applications.
ABS is easily processed by Injection Moulding, and ProPlastix can advise on all your specific applications.
